The Equus

Google labels this as a 4 star hotel, this is not true. While I booked this hotel based off the many good reviews I find here. I myself did not have a good experience. We arrived and were able to check in appropriately only to find that our room was not cleaned properly. The staff went above and beyond to offer a second room immediately which was better but still could had some issues which were addressed. The biggest issue for us for the lack of sound proofing or sealed windows/balconies. All the rooms face the Ala Moana Boulevard where several cars and motorcycles will be racing during the day and even at night. Between Saturday and Monday I did not get one night of restful sleep. I had to use ear plugs. The staff did offer their best room with out any extra charge but informed me it will probably also have noise from the outside. I ended up checking out after 2 nights to another hotel. This hotel has a good and warm vibe, great location and very helpful staff (thank you Rene and Lincoln) but unfortunately, my experience was a deal breaker.

Room was very comfortable. Location convenient to public transportation, and restaurants. Walkable to Pier. Only criticism was that it is crammed into space among other tall buildings. Looked out my window (facing back of building), only to see more buildings..,...Not a big issue with me, but it may be worth considering if you want a view.
